Deleting your TrueWasher account
This page explains how to delete your TrueWasher account and what happens to your information when you do. You do not need to be signed in to read it.
How to delete your account
In the app
- Sign in at truewasher.com
- Go to Settings
- Tap Delete my account
- Confirm when prompted
Deletion happens immediately.
By email
If you cannot sign in, email privacy@truewasher.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm your identity, delete the account, and reply within 30 days — usually much sooner.
What is deleted
The following are erased permanently and cannot be recovered:
- Your login — email address, password, and any linked Google sign-in
- Your profile — name, phone number, and any saved addresses
- Your notification subscriptions, on every device
- Your promo code redemptions
- Any booking that was never collected and never paid for, including the garments listed on it
What is kept, without your identity
Orders we actually carried out, and wallet transactions, are detached from you rather than destroyed. Your name, addresses and any free text on them are erased. What remains is each record's amount and date — plus, for orders, their status, and for wallet transactions, whether it was a top-up or a debit — figures with no person attached.
We keep these because Nigerian tax and accounting law requires businesses to retain transaction records for six years. Once anonymised, these records no longer identify you.
Our hosting providers keep routine backups. Data already deleted may persist in those backups for a short time until they expire on their normal cycle.
When deletion is refused
If we currently have your laundry — an order that has been collected, is being washed, or is out for delivery — we cannot delete your account until that order is complete. Without your address our rider could not return your garments.
Wait until the order is delivered, then delete the account. Or email us and we will handle it once the order is finished.
Before you delete
- Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account, its order history, or anything else afterwards.
- Any wallet balance is lost. Spend it or contact us before deleting.
- Creating a new account later starts from scratch, with no history and no balance.
