Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 September 2026
TrueWasher ("we", "us") provides a laundry pickup and delivery service through our website and app at truewasher.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
We are the data controller for the information described here, and we handle it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you create an account
- Your name and email address
- Your password, which we store only as an encrypted hash and never in readable form
If you sign in with Google instead, Google gives us your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
In your profile settings (all optional)
- Phone number
- A default pickup address
When you book a laundry order
- The pickup address you type, or the drop-off outlet you choose
- Your chosen pickup date and time
- The garments in your order, their quantities, and any extras
- Any instructions you leave for us
Payments and wallet
- The amount of each order and which payment method you selected
- Your wallet top-ups and the resulting balance
- Any promo codes you redeem
We do not collect or store card numbers, bank account details or any other payment credentials. At the time of writing, no online payment provider is integrated with the app.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications, your browser generates a subscription token, which we store so we can send you order updates. It identifies a browser on a device, not you personally.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and server data — your IP address, device type, browser and operating system, and the requests your device makes to our servers. This is standard hosting and security logging.
- Usage data — which pages of the app are viewed, collected through Vercel Analytics.
- Sign-in records — the time of your last sign-in and email confirmation, recorded by our authentication provider.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your device's GPS location. You type or select your addresses.
- We do not record or upload photographs or video. The app can open your camera to scan a promo QR code, but the code is read inside your browser and only the resulting text is sent to us. No image leaves your device.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not build advertising profiles.
2. Why we use your information
| Purpose | What we rely on |
|---|---|
| Creating and managing your account | Performing our contract with you |
| Arranging pickups and deliveries, and directing our riders | Performing our contract with you |
| Processing orders, wallet balances and promotions | Performing our contract with you |
| Sending order updates by push notification | Your consent |
| Answering your questions and resolving problems | Performing our contract with you |
| Keeping the service secure and preventing fraud | Our legitimate interests |
| Understanding how the app is used so we can improve it | Our legitimate interests |
| Meeting tax, accounting and other legal obligations | Legal obligation |
You can withdraw consent for notifications at any time, in Settings or in your browser, without affecting anything else.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Our riders
To complete your order, the rider assigned to it can see your pickup address and the order details. Riders cannot see your profile, your email address or your wallet.
You will see your rider's name, photo, rating, phone number, vehicle plate and hub, so you know who is collecting your laundry.
Service providers
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database and account authentication, including the emails that confirm your address or reset your password |
| Vercel | Hosting for our website and app, and analytics on page views |
| Sign-in with Google, if you use it; and the delivery of push notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging | |
| Cloudflare | Network security, and the routing of email sent to our addresses |
| Google Maps | Where an order is out for delivery and has map coordinates attached, your device loads a map from Google, which receives your IP address, browser and those coordinates |
These providers act on our instructions. Several of them store data on servers outside Nigeria, so your information may be transferred abroad. Where that happens we rely on the contractual and technical safeguards those providers offer, which require them to keep your data secure and use it only as we direct.
Otherwise
We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
4. Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, in Settings → Delete my account. You can also email privacy@truewasher.com and we will do it for you. Full details, including what is kept, are at truewasher.com/account-deletion.
Deleted immediately and permanently:
- Your login, password and any Google sign-in link
- Your profile — name, phone number and saved addresses
- Your notification subscriptions
- Your promo code redemptions
- Any booking that was never collected and never paid for, along with its contents
Kept, but with your identity removed:
Orders we actually carried out, and wallet transactions, are detached from you. Your name, addresses and any free text are erased. What remains is each record's amount and date — plus, for orders, their status, and for wallet transactions, whether it was a top-up or a debit. We keep these because Nigerian tax and accounting law requires us to retain transaction records, and once anonymised they no longer identify you.
One limitation: if we currently have your laundry — an order collected, being washed, or out for delivery — deletion is refused until that order is finished. Otherwise our rider would be left with garments and no address.
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account afterwards.
5. How long we keep it
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | While your account is open |
| Anonymised order and wallet records | 6 years, for tax and accounting purposes |
| Technical and server logs | Up to 12 months |
| Notification subscriptions | Until you turn notifications off, sign out, or the subscription expires |
| Backups | Our providers' backups may retain data for a short period after deletion, until those backups expire on their normal cycle |
6. Your rights
Under Nigerian data protection law you may:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything inaccurate or out of date
- Delete your information, subject to the retention explained in section 4
- Object to or restrict how we use it
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it
- Receive a copy of the information you gave us
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission
You can change your name, phone number and addresses yourself in Settings. For anything else, email privacy@truewasher.com. We respond within 30 days, and may first ask you to confirm your identity so we do not disclose your information to someone else.
7. Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit across the whole service, database access rules that confine each account to its own records, and secure password storage.
No system is completely secure. If a breach occurs that puts your rights at risk, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
8. Children
TrueWasher is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, email privacy@truewasher.com and we will delete it.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use only what the service needs to function:
- Cookies that keep you signed in
- Local storage that remembers your theme, an item you were about to book, and whether you have installed the app
- A service worker cache holding the app's own files, so it works offline
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the service develops. When we add a feature that collects new information — device location, photographs, or online payments, for example — we will update this policy and the app's Google Play Data safety disclosure before that feature goes live.
The date at the top changes whenever we revise this policy, and we will tell you in the app if a change is significant.
